In the past, when you had to make immediate payment to someone, you used IMPS to make the transaction. The problem with the IMPS was that you had to register the bank account first, and most of the banks used to charge Rs 5 + Taxes for every IMPS transaction. Apart from this, IMPS was not very user-friendly either. Later, Paytm wallet entered the market, and people started using it regularly to make payments. However, one problem with Paytm was that the amount was transferred to the wallet and Paytm used to charge a fee to transfer the money to the account.
This problem was addressed by India’s indigenous payment portal, UPI. UPI is a Unified Payments Interface, and the National Payments Corporation of India developed it. This made the payments system very user-friendly, and it also helped users receive payments in real-time. Soon, all the banks adopted the infrastructure and enabled UPI for the customers. Punjab & Sind Bank wasn’t behind either. Even though the bank has 1526 branches in India, the UPI eliminated the need of visiting the bank for making payments. Anything and everything can have technical issues, which is also true with UPI.
Punjab & Sind Bank UPI Not Working
If you face any issue with Punjab & Sind Bank UPI, you can check out the steps below to fix the problem yourself.
Issues with QR Code, UPI ID or Phone Number
Whenever you face any issue with Punjab & Sind Bank UPI, the first thing that you should do is verify the details. This will help you understand if the payment is failing because of the incorrect UPI ID or mobile number. Make it a habit to double-check these details so that you never end up transferring money to the wrong person as well.
Insufficient Balance
If the UPI Details or the QR code is correct, then the next thing that you should check is the balance in your account. Ensure that you have enough balance in your Punjab & Sind Bank Account linked to the UPI. If you have multiple accounts with Punjab & Sind Bank, ensure that you selected the correct account. If none of this seems to be an issue, then move on to the next step.
Many times, the payments fail because of the bank server being unavailable. There is no way to check the issue, but sometimes, the UPI app does throw an error message saying that the bank server is unavailable. There is nothing you can do to fix this, and you must wait sometime before trying again.
Daily Transaction Limit
Not many people are aware of this, but there is a transaction limit associated with UPI transactions. At present, the maximum allowable transaction limit is Rs 1 Lakh in the case of an individual and Rs 2 Lakh in the case of a merchant. Ensure that you are not breaching the daily limit. Also, if you have changed your SIM, the limit will be reduced for 24 hours to safeguard your interest.
Updating the Application

Reaching Out to Support Team
If you can still not resolve the issue, you should reach out to the bank’s customer care. They will help you understand the reason for the UPI not working. The contact number of Punjab & Sind Bank customer care is 1800 419 8300. Apart from this, there are times when the UPI App’s customer care might help you, so you can create a support ticket with them as well. If the money has been deducted, then don’t be worried. It will be refunded back to you within 5 to 10 working days.
