In late 19th century, when the saplings of technical and technological education were still sprouting in India, AICTE laid the foundation bricks of its curriculum, order and management. Powered by the Ministry of Human Resources & Development, the AICTE or All India Council for Technical Education is a national level organization responsible for the order of technical and management education system in India.
Now, every year out of all students studying in AICTE approved institutions, nearly 10000 students are shortlisted and offered a scholarship program under different schemes.
What is AICTE Scholarship Program?
Over 8562 institutions netted across the country are affiliated by AICTE recognized by MHRD. Some of the students studying in these institutions, who display high merit or excellence, are selected and offered with various scholarship programs in the form of financial assistance and quality education support. This is to polish the level of their skills as well as giving wings to the dreams of those belonging to relatively weaker backgrounds.
There is a number of scholarship schemes offered by AICTE, out of which, here are the five main.
List of 5 major AICTE Scholarship Schemes
1. AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme
This scheme is aimed at first year female students pursuing technical degree or diploma programme from any AICTE recognized institution. For thi academic years has to be 2022. AICTE Pragati strives to empower girl students to build their self confidence, provide quality education and offer support. Only two girls per family are allowed to apply for the scholarship.
Number of Scholarships Available: 4000

Scholarship Amount: Upto Rs. 50000 including tuition fees and miscellaneous expenses
2. AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme
This scheme provides support to differently-abled and specially-abled students to pursue technical education. Differently abled students in the first year of technical diploma or degree program with a family income of less than 8 lakhs per annum are eligible to apply for this scholarship scheme. The scheme offers an amount upto thirty thousand rupees to students to avail quality education and technical equipment.

Scholarship Amount: Rs. 30000 plus hostel, accommodation or contingency expenses if apply
3. AICTE Post Graduate Scholarship for GATE/GPAT
Students qualifying GATE/GPAT entrance exam and taking admission in first year of any M.Tech/M.E./M.Pharma institution are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This AICTE PG Scholarship aims at promoting higher level of technical education in India.
Number of Scholarships Available: 1000

Scholarship Amount: Rs. 12,400 per month each for GATE and GPAT
4. AICTE National Doctoral Fellowship Scheme
This scholarship scheme is targeted at PhD research scholars. It strives to harness and promote the technical and technological empowerment of the country. Scholars below 30 years of age, and with a score of 75% or above in B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharm and M.E/M.Tech/M.Pharm, can register for this scheme.
Number of Scholarships Available: 150

Scholarship Amount: Upto Rs. 28000 per annum
5. Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS)
PMSSS is an AICTE scholarship scheme developed especially for the resident students of Jammu & Kashmir with a domicile of the state. Its goal is to nurture and offer support to the students of J&K interested in pursuing higher technical education outside the state.
Number of Scholarships Available: 5000
Estimated Last Date: April-May 2019
Scholarship Amount: Rs. 3 lakhs per annum for Medical Courses, Rs. 1.25 lakhs per annum for Engineering courses and Rs. 30000 per annum for general courses
Application Process for AICTE Scholarship Schemes
Applications for each of the AICTE scholarships are accepted only through their online portal located on their official website. Although, each scholarship registration is done via the same link, the type of application including its details and submissions vary from scheme to scheme. Plus, the documents required to be uploaded may also vary from scheme to scheme. Check out the following points to determine the detailed process of applying for AICTE scholarships.
Steps to Apply for an AICTE Scholarship
Step 1: Visit the official website of AICTE i.e. www.aicte-india.org to apply for a AICTE Scholarship Program.
Step 2: On the top centred menu, you will see a tab called Schemes. Click on it. You’ll be redirected to a page with a list of different schemes along with their respective details.
Step 3: From this page, click on ‘Students Development Schemes’ tab opening a list of all AICTE scholarships available.
Step 4: Hover over the scheme box you wish to apply for and click on Read More.

Step 5: Read the details of the scholarship scheme thoroughly including its eligibility requirements, application process, instructions, documents & attachments, important dates, scholarship amount, expenses, FAQs, User Manual, etc.
Step 6: On the same page, you will find a flashing tab giving a link to the application form. If you wish to apply for that particular scholarship scheme, click on Apply tab. You will be taken to a further list of instructions followed by their helpline numbers in case you have any query before filling up the form.
Once you’re clear and done with the instructions, click on ‘Proceed’
Step 7: Fill up the Part 1 of Application Form that includes validation asking for your State Name, Date of Birth, Student ID and Institute ID. For obtaining your Student ID and Institute ID, you will have to contact your college/university/institute.
Step 8: Validate and complete the application form by filling out remaining details and uploading necessary documents.
