CBSE has released the CTET notification on Oct 20. The online application process will begin from Oct 31. Candidates interested in making their career in teaching profession can apply for the exam. The exam is conducted every consecutive year to fill in the teaching vacancies. The candidates are shortlisted based on the performance in exam and shortlisting criteria for teaching class 1-8 students in various reputed schools namely Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
CTET Exam will be conducted between December 2022 and January 2023. The last date to apply for CTET is Nov 24 and the last date to pay the application fee is Nov 25. The candidates who want to teach classes 1-5 have to appear for Paper I while those willing to teach classes 6-8 must apply for Paper II. They can also apply for both the papers.
How to Apply for CTET?
Interested Candidates must apply through the official website. They need to register themselves on the portal by providing the basic personal details. After that, they will be provided with their login credentials. On logging into the CTET, the link to apply online will be available. Fill in all the information very carefully and submit the form. They will also be required to pay the application fees.
The application fee for one paper is INR 1000 for General/OBC candidates while INR 1200 for both the papers. On the other hand, SC/ST/ Differently-abled candidates have to pay INR 500 for one paper and INR 600 for both papers. Candidates will check CTET Eligibility before applying for CTET Exam.
CTET Exam Pattern
The CTET exam pattern has 2 papers- Paper I and Paper II. Paper 1 consists of 5 sections while Paper 2 consists of 4 sections. Each of them consists of 150 MCQs of a total of 150 marks. The duration of each paper is 2.5 hours.
Paper I comprises of Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (compulsory), Language II (compulsory), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. While in Paper II, the candidates have to attempt questions from Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I (compulsory), Language II (compulsory), and Mathematics+Science/ Social Studies. To understand the exam pattern and marks distribution better, the candidates must refer to old CTET question papers.
CTET Syllabus is prescribed by CBSE and it has remained unchanged in many years. Since Paper I is for primary school teaching, the questions are also from the level of classes 1-5. Similarly in Paper II, the questions are from the difficulty level of classes 6-8.
The exam is conducted in OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets and there are certain instructions that must be followed while handling the OMR sheets. Four sets (A, B, C and D) of question papers are there. The sheets will be provided sealed inside a booklet. It must be opened only after instructed for the same by the invigilator. The roll number must be written only in the designated place. All the details must be filled clearly and accurately with a ballpoint pen. The sheets must not be folded at all as they will be scanned on an optical scanner. Further guidelines for the application and the exam are given in the official notification.
